Lily Preludes

Returning to still life drawing as a starting point for my work and a recently discovered passion for classical music, I started to appreciate how much an artist and a composer can experience a range of intense emotions in similar ways. I had always felt music visually and within my heart, and as my preferred means of communication is via surface and colour I have started the challenging task of unravelling how I could describe music in this way. The Lilies have a deep resonance and poignancy for me and the '12 preludes for piano' and as far as I know the unfinished Piano Concerto No. 1 'Portrait of Ipssisima' by composer Michael Paul Smith will live within me forever.
