Jewellery Making Classes - Experienced and Qualified Jewellery Tutor
Half-day jewellery making experience:
£85 including silver
3 hours/ up to two people/ dates and times available to book on airbnb experiences
Learn how to make a sterling silver ring or bangle from scratch. I will show you how to make your own sterling silver ring or bangle from scratch. We will start by working out a design and the size needed first in copper wire or sheet, and how to create textures using a rolling mill, hammers or punches. I will show you how to correctly use a jeweller's piercing saw to cut the metal. After annealing the metal using a blow torch, you'll form the ring or bangle, using a mallet to shape it to the mandrel. I will demonstrate how to solder the join, and then you'll get a go! You will make the final piece in silver to your own personal design. And then it gets a final finish burnished, matt or shiny... and you get to put it on and it's yours to keep...or give to someone special as a thoughtful gift.regular jewellery making workshops/one to one tuition:

I have taught jewellery making skills in several colleges over 10+ years and am now able to offer one to one or couples tuition from my own studio in North Yorkshire as either a jewellery making course or as individual classes/workshops and open access supported bench time. My own training at a small college was under the direction of a master silver/goldsmith and practicing tutors with their own successful businesses. I have won awards and received private and National Commissions, I have experience selling through craft and design shows, independent and public galleries, selected National Trust shops and on-line with Etsy and NotOnTheHighStreet. I offer introductions to the fundamental craftsmanship techniques of cutting, shaping, forming, soldering and finishing in precious metals.
A jewellery course of 5 sessions should see you able to set-up a small workspace at home and be designing and producing pieces for friends and family or an artisan collection to sell to a wider audience via Etsy and local Craft Fairs. After an initial introduction to basic techniques and the use of equipment and tools, I can also offer supported bench time and flexible open studio access. I am very happy to share my own skills and knowledge and to tailor our workshop sessions to suit your own needs; most people find making something from scratch with their hands very satisfying and quite magical, I can help you achieve that and open the door to a creative hobby, a small lifestyle business or to extend and explore techniques to your own existing art or craft practice.
I look forward to working with you.
